4 Pigs Zambia Farm/

4 Pigs Zambia Farm

VVS Zambia and 4 Pigs Zambia have started a training and research farm in Chongwe area.

We are implementing our feeding system in order to achieve a sustainable dairy, beef and pork production.

At this moment the farm consists of a piggery unit of 10 sows and 100 pigs in total and a cattle unit of 15 lactating cows and 30 animals in total. The piggery and cattle units follow the systems developed by our own Dr. Simon Holik and the production of the piggery is 5 pigs (80-100 kgs) a week. The cows are dual purpose and beef croses between Fleckvieh and Tuli breeds and at the moment on the pasture based system htey are able to produce up to 15 liters of milk per day and the bulls are reaching about 800 kgs of full grown weight.

Ing. Pompido Chilala is currently conducting a research on heat stress reduction in pigs due to the increased intake of nano selenium particles and we will be informing you on the progress and the consequent results of his work.

VVS Zambia has worked intesively with Livestock services in Mazabuka on the trainings of small scale farmers and we are providing individual consultations on our farm to our clients as well.

The piggery and cattle units are using the VVS premixes and VVS systems. We are providing the animals with a quality roller meal from the local farmers and soya meal from Livestock services.
